The president of Council for Transparency in Chile, Bernardo Navarrete, visited the Council of Transparency and Good Government and held a meeting with its president, José Luis Rodríguez Álvarez. At the meeting they exchanged information on how they are facing the task of supervising the obligations of transparency and guarantee of the right of access to public information in their respective countries, analyzed the regulation and Spanish practice in relation to the limit of personal data protection, and established new channels to strengthen cooperation between both institutions.
The Council for Transparency (CPLT) of Chile, which this year celebrates its 15th anniversary, is an autonomous corporation in public law, with its own legal personality, whose main task is to ensure the proper compliance with the Law on Transparency of the Public Service and Access to Information of the State Administration, promulgated on August 20, 2008 and which entered into force on April 20, 2009. To this end, among other actions, it monitors public agencies, resolves complaints when people feel that their right to access information has been violated and promotes awareness in the public sector and among citizens about the importance of transparency and the right to access public information.
