The president of the CTBG, José Luis Rodríguez Álvarez, met today with the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, José Luis Escrivá Belmonte, and with the Secretary of State for Public Service, Clara Mapelli Marchena, at the headquarters of the Ministry. At the meeting, Rodríguez Álvarez conveyed to the minister the activity carried out by the Council, highlighting how each year the number and complexity of the complaints received by the Council of citizens in search of protection of their right of access to public information vis-à-vis the organs and bodies of the General Administration of the State and the institutional public sector of the State.
Also, he explained, the activity carried out by the Council is intensified every year to evaluate the fulfillment of the obligations of active publicity by the different subjects required by Law 19/2013 of transparency, access to public information and good governance.
The meeting also analysed the remaining challenges, such as the reform of the Transparency Act or the adoption of the new Council Statute, which will strengthen this independent administrative authority in order to fulfil its tasks as guarantor of the fulfilment of the obligations of active publicity of public bodies and safeguarding the exercise of the right of access to public information of citizens.
