From 1 to 3 July we debated “The future of transparency in Spain in the face of the challenges of artificial intelligence” at the UIMP
26/06/2026
The meeting, organized by the Council and the Menéndez Pelayo International University, takes place in Santander, within the Summer Activities 2026 of the UIMP
Next Wednesday, July 1, the Council of Transparency and Good Governance (CTBG) and the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) open a space in the Palacio de la Magdalena de Santander to debate the challenges and opportunities that artificial intelligence represents for public transparency. The meeting, which will be attended by first-level experts from different fields, will last until 3 July and is part of the UIMP’s Summer Activities 2026.
Can there be true public transparency if we do not know when, how and with what criteria artificial intelligence intervenes in the decision-making of the Administration? If public management is automated, how do you know if the decisions are correct?
For three days, in the meeting "The future of transparency in Spain before the challenges of artificial intelligence", these and other relevant challenges for Public Administrations and citizens will be addressed: algorithmic transparency, the right of access to data, models and automated systems, the tension between data protection and transparency, the potential of AI to promote public transparency and improve the information published by the Administration to account for its management, the ethical, safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence, or the new legal scenarios that open up to the automation of public decisions.
With a multidisciplinary approach, experts in transparency, technology, law and data protection will participate in this course, to offer the vision of the Transparency Council, the judiciary, the university, civil society, international organizations…
Representatives of the Supreme Court, the OECD, the Spanish Data Protection Agency, the Spanish Agency for Supervision of Artificial Intelligence, the Bank of Spain, the Public Sector and Artificial Intelligence Observatory and the citizens’ foundations Civio, Hay Derecho, Transparency International, Maldita and the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (CERMI) participate, among others.
