“The Transparency Council aims to promote initiatives to facilitate that all people, without distinction, including people with disabilities, can fully exercise their rights in terms of transparency and the right of access to public information, essential aspects to facilitate the participation of citizens in public affairs,” said Campos Acuña.
In this sense, the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Council, agreed on the advisability of promoting the development of guides and other guidance instruments to help ensure that the transparency portals of public entities and other subjects required by law comply with accessibility.
Both sides also agreed on the importance of working to ensure that the demands for transparency are rigorously applied within the social organizations themselves.
"The entities of the third social sector must be advanced in transparency, good governance and accountability. The legitimacy to demand openness and publicity from the public authorities is reinforced when the organizations themselves incorporate these same standards into their daily functioning," said the president of CERMI.
CERMI expressed its willingness to collaborate with the Council in those initiatives that contribute to extending the principles of open government, institutional integrity, and universal accessibility, as essential elements of a more participatory and inclusive democracy.
