ABSTRACT

A citizen submitted a request for access to information addressed to the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, which aimed to know certain minutes and documents related to the meetings of the Council of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL)

The Ministry denied access to the information and advised the applicant to address her application to the EMBL, which has prepared the documentation in its entirety. The citizen filed a complaint with the Council of Transparency and Good Government.

The Transparency Council considered the complaint filed and considered in its resolution that it is the Ministry that must provide the requested documentation, since it is not correct to send the request to a foreign body to which the Spanish regulations on access to information do not apply.
