SUMMARY

A citizen submitted a request for access to information addressed to the Ministry of the Interior to know the crime statistics in Madrid, in the years 2017 to 2019; in particular, criminal offences broken down by type of crime, months and districts.

The Ministry denied part of the request because it does not have the disaggregated data at the municipal district or neighborhood level, but only at the provincial level and with populations over 30,000 inhabitants.

When a complaint was filed, the Council of Transparency and Good Government partially estimated it, since it is accredited that the Ministry has crime rates in Madrid capital, disaggregated by type of crime, months and districts.
