The President of the Council of Transparency and Good Governance, José Luis Rodríguez Álvarez, met on May 17 with the Commissioner of the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI) of Mexico Blanca Lilia Ibarra Cadena, in order to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions, and exchange information and experiences.
The INAI is a constitutional body at the federal level that, together with its powers as guarantor of transparency and access to public information, also exercises as supervisory authority for compliance with the regulations on personal data protection.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Transparency Council, in Madrid, had as its main objective to analyze the actions carried out by the two institutions to strengthen transparency and the right of access to public information in the two countries. In this regard, the INAI Commissioner shared the contents of the National Plan for the Socialization of the Right of Access to Information, a project that aims to bring the right to know and its usefulness closer to more people, especially groups in vulnerable situations.
The meeting also analyzed the projects being developed within the framework of the Ibero-American Network on Transparency and Access to Information (RTA), an organization chaired by INAI and which includes 42 bodies guaranteeing the right of access to information from 18 countries, including the Council on Transparency and Good Governance.
