The report reflects a very significant increase in the resolving activity of claims at the state level and in the evaluation of compliance with the obligations of active publicity.
The Committee on Transparency and Good Governance, at the meeting held this morning at the headquarters of the Council on Transparency and Good Governance, has approved the Memory of Activities 2024 of the institution, which reflects a substantial increase compared to the previous year, both in the number of claims for protection of the right to public information at State level resolved and in the number of entities that have been evaluated to verify the degree of compliance with their obligations of active publicity. There has also been an increase in the number of consultations on the implementation of the transparency law, and increased collaboration with other guarantee bodies, especially at the international level.
The agenda for the Commission meeting also included an analysis of the latest activities carried out by the institution and the actions planned for the coming months. The President of the Council, José Luis Rodríguez Álvarez, has detailed the recent work of the institution in terms of resolutions of claims of right of access to public information and evaluation of compliance with the transparency law. He also highlighted the recent agreement to create the Conference of Guarantors of Transparency and Access to Public Information (COTAI), a decision adopted at the meeting of councils and commissioners of state and regional transparency held in Toledo on May 20 and 21.
Likewise, the President of the Council has outlined the actions that the independent administrative authority will soon undertake, such as the updating of the interpretative criteria of the transparency law that it has been issuing and the renewal of its website. He also highlighted the organization of the summer course at the Menéndez Pelayo International University “Transparency in Spain: balance sheet and proposals for improvement” , to be held from 2 to 4 July, with the participation of leading experts in the field; as well as the participation of the Council in the XVI International Conference of Information Commissioners, to be held in Berlin from 23 to 25 June.
