136. Communications with the Holy See on the exhumation of Francisco Franco
SUMMARY
A citizen submitted a request for access to information addressed to the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Equality to obtain communications between the Ministry and the Holy See (Vatican) on the exhumation of Francisco Franco.
The Administration denied the request on the grounds that it could violate external relations, given the confidential nature of communications between sovereign States, which is channelled through letters or notes verbales.
Filed Claim, the Council of Transparency and Good Governance considered it, given that the Vatican’s statement on the meeting held by both parties in October 2018 is on the Internet, as well as the full text of the response to the Spanish Government’s letter.
