Specifically, in 2024, 1,530 claims have been resolved in this area, which represents an increase in the number of resolved files of 30.9% compared to 2023.
Regarding the number of complaints that had access to the Council, it should be noted that in 2024 a record number was registered since the independent authority began its activity. There were 1,396 complaints filed at the state level, which is 19.3% more than in 2023 and almost tripling (170.6% more) those received in 2015, the first year of operation of the institution.
It should be noted that, once again, the main cause of the claims resolved by the Council has been the lack of response of the Administration to the request for information, which originated 42% of the cases resolved by the Council. This reason has been more recurrent in 2024 than in 2023, in which 33.7% of the resolved claims had been filed by administrative silence.
The Council resolved in favour of the applicant six out of ten (64.5%) complaints admitted to processing, urging the public administration or body to deliver all or part of the information previously denied. This percentage also includes claims estimated on formal grounds, i.e. where the administration provided the information to the claimant but only after the claimant had complained to the Council, thereby infringing his right to receive it on time.
The Council is preparing its annual report, which will collect the most relevant data on the activity of the Independent Authority, both for the resolution of amparo claims on the right of access to information and for the rest of its functional areas.
