The Presidents of the Council and the AEPD agree to strengthen the collaboration between the two authorities

The President of the Spanish Data Protection Agency and the President of the Transparency and Good Governance Council

As part of her recent appointment, the President of the Council for Transparency and Good Governance, Concepción Campos, held an institutional meeting today with the President of the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), Lorenzo Cotino.

Both have agreed on the desirability of strengthening collaboration between the two institutions, with the aim of ensuring an adequate balance between the right of access to public information and the right to the protection of personal data.

In this regard, it should be recalled that the two independent authorities have already promoted various joint interpretative criteria on different subjects, such as access to remuneration and productivity of State public sector personnel or the agendas of public officials (available for consultation). here).

At the meeting, held at the headquarters of the AEPD, the two presidents stressed their commitment to intensify channels of collaboration and permanent communication and promote new initiatives that help to make compatible the public interest in accessing information and guaranteeing the privacy of people. This collaboration is even more necessary in a context in which the advances of Artificial Intelligence and technology pose new challenges in these areas.
